FAQ's
A blocked drain is likely to smell bad, as waste fails to flow away. Other signs might be: slow-draining water, strange noises when flushing the toilet or emptying the sink, or rising water from sinks and toilets.
As it’s difficult to tell exactly where your drain is blocked, we’d recommend getting us in to conduct a camera survey of your system. This will quickly and easily identify where the blockage is, enabling us to act quickly to remove the problem and get your system back up to speed in minimal time.
There are many causes of drain blockages – from hair, kitchen waste, garden waste, toys, baby wipes, and more. If it can go down your waste pipes it can block them! The best way to avoid this is to ensure you do not flush anything that can cause a problem. Throw away baby wipes, kitchen grease, pull hair out from plugholes and keep your gutters clear of leaves and foliage, especially in Autumn when they tend to clog things up very quickly.
An overflowing toilet is most likely a blockage that you can solve yourself with a good old plunger. However, if you do this and there’s still a problem, get in touch in case there’s a problem with your toilet system or a different drain problem.
If your water company hasn’t informed you of a price change and your bill has suddenly increased, it's worth investigating to see if there's a leak in your drainage system that’s letting your precious water dribble out into the soil. Check showers, toilets and taps for functionality and if there’s no obvious leak get in touch so we can investigate further.

Especially if you’re purchasing an older property, a drain survey is a good idea. Although it isn’t part of the standard survey usually performed before the sale is complete, a drain survey can identify problems early on. This means that if there are costs associated with the drains needing work, you can negotiate your sale price to include the necessary costs – saving you time and money further down the line.
All drains within your property boundary are your responsibility. Any drains outside your boundary are owned and maintained by the sewage company, which is publicly owned. Therefore, if there’s an issue on your property it has to be fixed at your cost. In some circumstances, the local Authority can carry out necessary work to your private drains but will then charge you for it. It’s well worth maintaining your private drains to avoid costly repairs when things go wrong.
In most circumstances we would hope to clear a blockage within an hour.
Not at present, payment is due upon completion of the work undertaken.
